1 · What DeltaWall is
DeltaWall is a standalone desktop app — not a plugin. It watches every DeltaMeter, DeltaEQ and DeltaComp running in your DAW session over the Delta family’s shared-memory registry and shows them as one stacked wall: a live tile per track. No audio passes through it. It takes no plugin slot, adds no latency, needs no routing, and cannot affect your session’s sound — except when you deliberately reach in (mute/solo, EQ edits, compressor tweaks), which travel back to the plugins as remote controls.
Because the connection is shared memory on your machine, it works with any DAW the Delta plugins work in — including sandboxed hosts where plugins can’t see each other directly.
2 · Install & activate
DeltaWall ships inside every Delta product installer and is free with any Delta license. If a valid DeltaMeter, DeltaEQ or DeltaComp license is activated on your machine, DeltaWall runs — nothing extra to buy or enter. Launch it from the Start menu (the magenta Δ icon). One instance runs at a time; launching it again just focuses the running window.
3 · Quick start
- Open your DAW session — any session with Delta plugins on its tracks.
- Launch DeltaWall (ideally on a second monitor).
- That’s it. Tracks walk onto the wall by themselves as their plugins publish. No configuration exists because none is needed.
If the wall says “No Delta instances found”, see Troubleshooting — it’s almost always a version mismatch between the app and your installed plugins.
4 · The wall
Each tile is one track: its name and colour (from your DAW where the host provides them), a live plot, a mini loudness rail (peak + short-term LUFS with peak-hold), and a per-tile switcher. Drag tiles to reorder; drag the left gutter to resize; collapse a tile to a single header line; the header’s collapse all / expand all does the whole stack. Scroll with the wheel, or middle-drag for kinetic scrolling.
The header counts live instances and shows the ALL ⇄ CUSTOM face toggle (see §10) and the quick-slot pills.
5 · Tiles: views & channels
Every tile carries a switcher (lower-left, on hover): the view (what the track’s data can honestly fill — spectra always; waveform, history, EQ or COMP where that track’s plugin provides them) and the channel (Stereo · L/R · M/S, with solo). The eye glyph resets a pinned tile back to following the leader view. DeltaWall only ever offers views a tile’s data can actually draw — an empty promise is a bug here.
6 · Masking & clarity
With MASK on (header pill), every tile is washed where the rest of the mix buries it, and wears a clarity percentage — 100% means nothing is sitting on this track. The masking menu (MASK pill) lists every track with an eye toggle to exclude it from the calculation (master/bus tracks default off — their spectrum is the sum and would mask everything). When one pair of tracks sustains a real fight, a violet unmask? whisper appears; click it for the who/where/how-hard card and a one-click context duck on the offending track’s DeltaEQ — with a measured “+x dB unmasked” receipt afterwards, and an honest “not helping — revert?” when it didn’t.
7 · Mute & solo from the wall
Each tile carries M and S buttons under its rail. They mute/solo the plugin instances across the whole family — click-free ramps, cross-process, honest: solo one track and every other Delta-carrying track goes silent, wherever it runs. Bus tracks are solo-safe (a soloed track still routes through its bus); the BUS chip overrides the auto-detection either way. Exiting the wall clears all wall mutes — nothing stays silently muted behind your back.
8 · EQ ghosts & COMP tiles
A track with a DeltaEQ shows an EQ chip: toggle it and the EQ’s live curve appears on the tile with fully interactive handles — drag for freq/gain, wheel for Q, double-click to add or delete, plus the full band bar (type, slope, channel, dynamics, thresholds). A track with a DeltaComp shows a COMP view: the compressor’s dry/wet dynamics streaming by, with THRESH · RATIO · ATTACK · RELEASE · MAKEUP · MIX chips draggable right on the tile. All edits travel to the plugin instantly — it’s the same control surface DeltaMeter’s in-DAW wall uses.
9 · The re-Sampler
Any waveform tile can hand you its audio as a file:
- Long-press the tile’s plot (~a third of a second, still). The tile lifts — teal border, a “⇱ WAV” chip at the cursor.
- Drag out — of the tile or the window — and drop: on a DAW track, the desktop, a sampler. A 32-bit float WAV of exactly the audio the tile shows lands there.
- Wheel while lifted to pick the grid: FREE · 1/4 · 1/2 · 1 BAR · 2 · 4 BARS. Musical sizes cut the last completed span on your project’s bar lines — the chip confirms with “1 BAR @ 128 bpm” and the filename carries the size and tempo.
- Hold Alt at the press to lift the Δ lane — the audio that track’s processing removed. Delta-sampling: the pump of a bus compressor as a loop, on your grid.
Honesty rules the chip: transport stopped, no usable clock on that tile, a window
shorter than the span (“widen window” — drag the tile’s left
scale strip), or no Δ lane in the tile’s data — the chip says why, greyed,
and the drag exports nothing. DeltaWall never pads, stretches or fakes a
loop. Files land in Documents/DeltaMeter/re-Sampler — yours to keep;
M/S tiles export the decoded lane you see, not raw L/R.
10 · Quick slots, presets & CUSTOM
The numbered pills store complete wall states — order, collapse, per-tile pins, masking config. Click an empty pill to save, a lit one to recall, hold to overwrite, right-click to rename or clear. The “…” pill manages named presets on disk. The CUSTOM face replaces the automatic one-tile-per-track stack with a hand-built dashboard — the same track can appear several times with different pinned views. Removal is undoable via the toast; nothing asks “are you sure”.
11 · Zen
The corner-brackets icon strips all chrome — pills, switchers, rails — leaving pure signal. The wall in zen on a second monitor is the intended hero state: a living picture of your whole mix. Click the brackets again to come back.
12 · Settings
The cog opens the flyout: 60 FPS refresh (30 is the calm default), Eco mode (low-power: 30 fps + lighter rendering — eco also engages automatically under load via the performance governor, which protects the app the same way it protects the plugins), and the styling sliders (reactivity, smoothing, shading, stroke) that drive every tile’s look. Window size, position, layout and all settings persist across launches.
13 · Troubleshooting
“No Delta instances found” with a session open: your plugins and DeltaWall speak versioned shared memory — a plugin from an older installer is invisible rather than broken. Update every Delta plugin to the same installer generation as the app (each plugin’s Settings shows its version), re-add them in the DAW, and the tracks appear.
Tiles but no waveforms / greyed views: a view is only offered where the track’s plugin publishes that data — and waveform lanes are demand-driven, so they warm up a moment after a tile first shows.
Grid sizes greyed on some tracks: musical cuts need the track’s transport clock; tracks in another process don’t carry one yet — FREE always works.
The wall looks software-rendered: on GPUs/drivers that fail the startup shader check, DeltaWall falls back to its CPU renderer — identical layout, softer edges. That’s deliberate: a correct picture always beats a fast wrong one.
